Job Overview
Position:
Custodial Manager (Lead-Level Custodial Worker) in the Office of The Military (Adjutant General & National Guard) located in Carson City.
Provides general cleaning services to State facilities, performs minor repairs, maintains equipment, and may serve as lead worker or night shift supervisor.

- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, showers, laundry rooms, classrooms and other facilities according to scheduled procedures.
- Dust, mop, apply finish to floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets, wash windows, doors, mirrors, walls, woodwork, fixtures; polish furniture; clean stairwells and elevators; empty waste receptacles.
- Operate powered equipment (electric strippers, buffers, burnishers, power washers, vacuums) and use cleaning agents safely.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs: fixing leaking faucets, clearing clogged drains, servicing malfunctioning toilets.
- Maintain and repair custodial equipment, perform touch-up paint, replace light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, vacuum belts and bags.
- Remove snow from walkways and parking areas when required.
- Provide security to State buildings: secure windows, doors, gates; arm security systems and report deficiencies.
- Lead worker duties: delegate assignments, train subordinate staff, review completed tasks, maintain inventory of supplies.
- Maintain logs, prepare required forms and routine reports.
- Perform related duties as requested.
- High school graduation or equivalent education.
- One year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, government or similar environment; or six months of general work experience plus one year of custodial experience; or six months experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to perform minor maintenance and emergency repairs, including repairing leaking faucets, clogged drains, and malfunctioning toilets.
- Should have ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, maintain supply inventory records, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Working knowledge of materials and equipment used in custodial functions; safe and appropriate cleaning chemical handling.
- Skill in repairing plumbing fixtures and custodial equipment.
- Ability to perform lead worker duties such as assigning work, reviewing tasks, training new employees.
