Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance throughout the facility and Tiny Home units under the direction of the Program Director / Program Manager. This position ensures that all buildings, equipment, systems, and housing units remain safe, functional, and in good working order. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for identifying maintenance needs, completing repairs in a timely manner, and ensuring that equipment, fixtures, and facility assets are maintained in a safe operating condition to support participant safety, program operations, and regulatory compliance.

Ability to walk, stand, bend squat climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift to 25lbs. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as file cabinet drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or related field. Valid California Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. High school diploma or GED required. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and applicable Health Department requirements. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and/or substance use disorders preferred, but not required.

Current CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain certification. Must be TB-cleared prior to the start date. Demonstrated knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, and general building maintenance practices. Ability to safely operate manual and power tools and equipment. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and perform the physical demands associated with maintenance work. Knowledge of building maintenance principles, practices, and procedures.
