The 1st Line Service Technician position is responsible for customer satisfaction after the point of sale. This includes support with startups, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, etc. for MJC products. Provide guidance to customers on product warranty and approve contractor repairs, assisting with sourcing replacement parts.

• Troubleshoot unit issues and assist with in‑field start‑up via phone.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns and responding to special requests.
• Document information on issues in support software.
• Give input to New Product Development Teams on serviceability.
• Disposition warranty claims and  required for service.
• Work with Parts Department/Purchasing to order replacement parts.
• Travel to customer sites when necessary (15‑20% of the time, weekends when required).
• Conduct extensive self‑study to maintain technical proficiency.
• Work with all levels of the company including Engineering, Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Leadership.

• General knowledge of HVAC systems (required).
• Detailed troubleshooting skills (preferred).
• Familiarity with complex HVAC controls and mechanical systems (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ direct work experience with HVAC systems.
• Ability to maintain business relationships and provide support in difficult situations.
• Experience in building automation systems.
• Vocational school or associate’s degree in Electronics, Electro‑Mechanical Systems, Air Conditioning, or equivalent field experience.
• Ability to work independently or with little to no supervision.
• Trane controls and Tracer TU experience.

This job operates in a professional office environment, in a manufacturing plant environment, and as a representative job site. It uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Some work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the plant facility. Certain specialty issues will require factory support, requiring repairs to be conducted in the field.

Field environments include but are not limited to mechanical/pump rooms, industrial/commercial facilities, and rooftops that require ladder access.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. They must be agile, mobile, and able to stand for long times at customer job sites, and endure extreme heat, cold, wind, and occasional exposure off the ground on rooftops. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
