Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

You will supervise associates and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance crew at a large facility, ensuring efficient operations and prompt response to escalated issues and emergency repair orders. You will oversee maintenance tasks, address complaints, and may coordinate with contractors as needed. Occasional travel by automobile and airplane may be required for business purposes.
Essential Functions- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance crew to ensure effective operations.
- Respond promptly to escalated issues, emergency repair orders, and complaints.
- Oversee repair and adjustment of facility systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Inspect and test equipment to evaluate performance and ensure adherence to specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare and issue work schedules, assign duties, and maintain accurate preventive maintenance and work records.
- Provide guidance to associates in resolving complex problems and complaints, and collaborate with staff to solve work-related issues.
- Evaluate employee performance, conduct staff meetings, and recommend or initiate personnel actions as needed.
- Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance mechanic experience required.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- HAZMAT certification required.
- Completion of all RETA courses required within the first 24 months of employment.
- Ability to supervise and inspect work performed by maintenance associates and perform repair and adjustment of refrigeration systems, doors, dock boards, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with safety standards.
- Ability to perform advanced mechanical tasks and assist in complex repairs.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and interpret sketches and diagrams.
- Willingness to develop mentoring relationships to support employee development.
- Receptive to management development suggestions and willingness to seek additional knowledge for job growth.
- Ability to collaborate and resolve work-related problems constructively.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, SAP, and Microsoft applications preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).
- Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.
- Able to work in confined areas.
- Able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.
