Maintenance Planner

Casper, Wyoming

Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, prioritizing, scheduling, managing backlog in ERP System, and coordinating maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient mining and processing operations. This role works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Safety teams to ensure preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities are properly planned, resourced, and executed in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, optimizing maintenance resources, and supporting a strong safety culture in a uranium mining environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance work requests and backlog in ERP System, including scoping, planning, prioritization, scheduling, and conversion of notifications to value‑added work orders in alignment with maintenance business rules.
  • Develop and maintain job plans, work procedures, checklists, and job packets, ensuring completeness of scope, materials, resources, kitting, and safety requirements.
  • Plan and schedule daily, weekly, and outage maintenance activities in coordination with production, maintenance, safety, and supply chain teams to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime and costs.
  • Determine labor, materials, parts, and contractor requirements for maintenance work, including management of repairable parts and inventory recommendations.
  • Ensure material availability and timely delivery to staging areas by partnering closely with the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Maintain master data integrity and accuracy of maintenance backlog, work orders, and work releases in SAP.
  • Actively participate in KPI and scheduling meetings, providing analysis of performance results, deviations, and improvement actions.
  • Communicate effectively with production and safety teams to ensure equipment readiness and safe execution of maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate external service providers and support execution of contracted maintenance work.
  • Support maintenance operations as needed, overtime coordination, outage support, and assistance with maintenance engineering projects.
  • Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable state mining regulations.
  • Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications and Responsibilities
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Maintenance Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or maintenance operations in mining, processing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience working in regulated or safety‑sensitive environments is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling principles.
  • Proficiency with maintenance planning software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with co‑workers, supervisor, management, department head staff, and various agency personnel.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
Safety Practices and Policy

The employee must be knowledgeable about and follow the Company’s safety policies and procedures.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate office, warehouse, and mine site environments during site visits.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders and walk on uneven surfaces as required during site visits.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a combination of office, warehouse, and mine site environments.
  • The role may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving mechanical equipment during site visits.
  • Noise levels are typically low to moderate.
