Are you ready to turn your love for winter into a job that keeps our mountain running smoothly? Hogadon Basin is seeking reliable, hard-working, and snow-loving individuals to join our Snow Groomer position for the ski season!

As part of our mountain operations team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our trails, facilities, and public areas are safe, clean, and ski-ready. From snow grooming to trail maintenance and light equipment operation, no two days are the same on the slopes.

Incumbents are responsible for performing semi-skilled labor tasks related to maintaining snow landscapes at the ski area.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
  • Performs trail maintenance duties including shoveling, smoothing bumps and moguls, maintaining snow depth in high traffic areas, reshaping and rebuilding trails, managing snow at fences and drifts, spreading man-made snow, plowing snow, and packing fresh snow.
  • Operates a variety of snow grooming and snow making equipment, including snowplows, snow groomers, snow making guns, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs).
  • Performs minor repairs on tools and equipment and reports the need for major repairs; checks and adjusts fluid levels; greases and lubricates parts as required; cleans and cares for tools and equipment.
  • Performs basic cleaning of spectator areas and other hardscapes, empties trash receptacles and debris management, stocks restrooms, and performs similar building maintenance tasks.
  • May perform light cleaning and/or housekeeping activities.
  • Completes daily operational reports, as assigned.
  • Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Knowledge (position requirements at entry):

    Knowledge of:

    • Customer service principles.
    • Standard safety practices and procedures.
    • Semi-skilled maintenance and manual tasks.
    • Proper use and care of basic tools and equipment.
    • Basic principles of health and sanitation standards.
    • Recordkeeping.
    Abilities (position requirements at entry):

    Ability to:

    • Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
    • Be flexible with changing assignments.
    • Routinely demonstrate the City of Casper core values.
    • Follow written and verbal instructions and direction.
    • Keep accurate records of work performed.
    • Operate a variety of power-driven tools and equipment during adverse weather and in low light conditions.
    • Care for applicable tools and equipment.
    • Perform a variety of manual tasks and physical labor for prolonged periods.
    • Safely operate and handle equipment and supplies.
    • Learn general layout of facility to provide assistance to patrons.
    • Clean-up work sites in a neat and orderly fashion.
    • Learn the practices, methods, and materials used in snow grooming.
    • Learn to assess problems in the field and conduct measures to correct the problem.
    • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
    • Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
