Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provides customer service to Fleet Technicians and other Town departments relating to maintaining inventory and fulfilling orders/requests for preventive maintenance and repair parts for Town vehicles. Drives to parts stores/warehouses to pick up needed parts. Helps ensure parts are billed appropriately to work orders or filed for warranty coverage.

* Helps with the scheduling and transport of Town vehicles for outsourced repairs. Works with vendors to ensure timeliness of repair work.

* Provides input and assistance to the Fleet Support Technician to prioritize which vehicles need parts first and helps procure those parts.

* Works under direction of the Fleet Support Technician and is assigned work according to need. Work activities include working with the Fleet Faster software and various other on-line ordering sites.

* Together with the Fleet Support Technician, is responsible for procuring parts and supplies in the most cost effective manner for the Town. Orders, receives and tracks parts, supplies and fluids inventory for maintenance shop. Researches suppliers, compares costs. Obtains special or hard to find parts. Conducts periodic shelf stock inventory and rotates parts and supplies based on department needs. Maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors.

* Works with the Fleet Support Technician to maintain the computerized fleet software to include work orders, purchase requisitions, and parts and supplies inventory records.

* Maintains cleanliness of parts room and service areas.

* Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one year of vocational training

Experience:

One (1) year of closely related experience in fleet automotive parts inventory or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Licenses and/or

Certifications:

* Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

* CDL

* ASE Parts Specialist (P2) Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of procedures, methods, and terminology for auto & truck repair parts inventory

* Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information, such as equipment and parts manuals

* Skill in communicating effectively with and providing excellent customer service to a variety of personalities

* Knowledge of computers and database programs

* Skill in basic accounting and math

* Skill in keeping accurate and current records and files

* Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands:

* Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds

* Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing

* Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl

* Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment

* Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information

* Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

* Works both indoors and outdoors within the Town's facilities and properties

Equipment Used:

* This position may require the occasional use of personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment

Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
