Job Description Maintenance Assistant / Painter / General Laborer

Reports To:

The Maintenance Assistant/Painter/General Laborer supports the daily upkeep, safety, and appearance of the New Aldaya Lifescapes campus. This role performs a variety of general maintenance, painting, and labor tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors in a senior living/healthcare setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work
- Complete painting projects
, including surface preparation, patching, and finishing - Assist with general labor tasks such as moving furniture, setting up rooms, and transporting equipment
- Support preventative maintenance activities and routine inspections of equipment and facilities
- Assist with groundskeeping duties
, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance - Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and needed repairs
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly store tools and materials
- Follow all safety standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements applicable to healthcare environments
- Interact respectfully with residents, families, and staff, maintaining a customer-service mindset
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in maintenance, painting, construction, or general labor preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and common repair techniques
- Ability to follow directions and learn new skills
- Strong reliability, work ethic, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely
- Senior living and healthcare setting
- Regular exposure to maintenance tools, equipment, and cleaning supplies
- Interaction with residents, including those with physical or cognitive limitations
