Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Keep businesses up and running as the on-site expert they rely on. As a Field Service Technician, you’ll travel to customer locations to diagnose and repair office equipment, tackle mechanical, electronic, and basic networking issues, and ensure software and devices are working smoothly—all while training users, building strong customer relationships, and playing a key role in day-to-day productivity. The Field Technician services the area around Waterloo, IA and north into southern Minnesota.
Responsibilities- Communicates daily activities with Call Coordinators, parts personnel, management, other service technicians, customers, and Sales personnel to ensure proper maintenance, repair, and customer satisfaction
- Diagnose and repair office equipment at customer locations, addressing mechanical, electronic, basic computer networks, media, and software issues
- Provide training to users on operation and functionality of equipment
- Train customers in the operation and functionality of equipment
- Utilize self-paced, group, and classroom training to ensure competency
- Maintain supplied tools and computing devices
- Keep a clean vehicle and an organized area for parts inventory
- Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and supplies required to maintain assigned equipment
- Generate referrals to sales personnel identifying potential to place new equipment
- Accurately bill for services rendered to install, maintain, and repair equipment
- Minimum:
High school diploma or GED - Strong mechanical aptitude and computer literacy
- Experience in a team-oriented, customer-facing environment
- 2-year college degree or related field or military training/experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with ongoing training
- Excellent verbal and written customer-focused communication skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and coordination skills
- This position requires driving regularly
- Maintain a good driving record and have a valid driver’s license
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to perform this position. The employee is regularly required to stand, push/pull over 50 pounds, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, twist, turn, and communicate. They frequently walk, sit, reach shoulder height and below, push/pull 25 pounds or less, lift or carry over 50 pounds, bend/stoop/crouch, and perform repetitive fine motor tasks.
Occasional requirements include reaching above shoulder height, climbing, crawling, and kneeling. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
