Part Time Custodian II

PART TIME CUSTODIAN II – 5:00 PM‑10:00 PM

SALARY RANGE: $21.06 per hour

• General cleaning: sweeping, cleaning carpets and blinds, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning toilet facilities, and refilling dispensers.
• Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs.
• Perform yard work: mowing, trimming, general cleanup, and marking athletic fields.
• Keep walkways and entries clear of ice and snow.
• Assist with receiving and storing supplies for the building cafeteria.
• Move and arrange furniture for school functions.
• Carry out additional requests of the building principal and engineer as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, use and care of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor building repairs.
• Plan, organize, and carry out work schedules efficiently.
• Responsible attitude towards job and coworkers.
• Excellent physical condition; willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy required.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure with frequent interruptions.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Professional representation of the district including confidentiality and communication skills.
• Physical capacity test passing required.

The position requires frequent lifting up to 100 lbs, standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting, stooping, and working in various weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

The employee will work both indoors and outdoors in quiet or noisy areas. Outdoor work may involve hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet, and icy conditions. The employee will work on various surfaces including tile, wood, terrazzo, and concrete.

Category "A" of the salary schedule of Maintenance and Custodial.

GED or High School diploma.
