Position: Part Time Custodian II (5:00-10:00PM) - Maple Grove

PART TIME CUSTODIAN II – 5:00 PM–10:00 PM

SALARY RANGE: $21.13 per hour

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • General cleaning: sweeping, cleaning carpets and blinds, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning toilet facilities, and refilling dispensers.
  • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs.
  • Perform yard work: mowing, trimming, general cleanup, and marking athletic fields.
  • Keep walkways and entries clear of ice and snow.
  • Assist with receiving and storing supplies for the building cafeteria.
  • Move and arrange furniture for school functions.
  • Carry out additional requests of the building principal and engineer as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, use and care of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor building repairs.
  • Planning, organizing and carrying out work schedules efficiently.
  • Responsible attitude toward job and fellow workers.
  • Excellent physical condition; willing to work in adverse weather.
  • Regular and reliable attendance as scheduled.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work independently and with detail orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Professional representation of the school district (confidentiality, communication skills, professional image).
  • Pass the Physical Capacity Profile test.
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems effectively and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, community members, staff, and students.
  • Speak clearly and concisely in oral and written communication.
  • Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent standing, walking, climbing, holding, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting heavy objects. Critical demands include climbing ladders with a ~10 lb tool belt, shoveling with 30 lb push, pushing/pulling 40 lb each hand, lifting 50 lb from bucket, lifting 90 lb from office desk one end, transferring 50 lb ground to 41 in, lifting from 37 in to 67 in 30 lb, carrying 80 lb for 20 ft, pushing/pulling 90 lb over 25 ft, and occasionally exerting up to 100 lb of force.

WORKING

ENVIRONMENT

Typically quiet; may work inside and outside in hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet, or icy conditions. May require hearing protection. Surfaces include tile, wood, terrazzo, and concrete.

CLASSIFICATION

Category "A" of the salary schedule of Maintenance and Custodial.

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL

GED/High School diploma.
