Field Service Engineer II – LINAC Systems
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Compensation: $110,000–$120,000 base salary
Employment Type: Full-time
A nationwide medical-equipment service organization is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer II to independently maintain, diagnose, and repair Varian True Beam linear accelerator systems.
This position is best suited for a fully trained LINAC engineer who can work independently in the field, manage assigned customer relationships, and respond to urgent equipment issues. Engineers will generally be responsible for two to three machines within an assigned territory.
Responsibilities Diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Varian True Beam LINAC systems. Complete field repairs independently and return equipment to manufacturer specifications. Troubleshoot electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, software, PC, networking, imaging, and vacuum-related problems. Perform preventive maintenance and installation support. Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts. Provide remote assistance to customers and other Field Service Engineers. Manage spare-parts inventory and coordinate urgent replacement-part needs.
Document service visits, repairs, parts used, and final resolutions in Salesforce. Travel throughout the assigned territory and respond to customer emergencies. Participate in 24/7/365 service coverage.
Required Qualifications At least two years of hands-on Varian True Beam service experience. Ability to diagnose and repair LINAC equipment independently. Strong electronic and electromechanical troubleshooting experience. Experience using test equipment for verification, checkout, and calibration. Ability to troubleshoot PC-based systems, software, and basic network issues. Ability to identify basic imaging defects and mechanical issues, including simple vacuum leaks. Strong customer-service and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Willingness to work non-standard hours and travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications Elekta LINAC experience. Varian C-Series experience. Formal Varian True Beam OEM training. Salesforce or comparable service-management software experience.
