Temporary Seasonal Employee – Eleven Mile/Spinney Mountain State Parks

Join the Colorado Department of Revenue as a temporary seasonal employee at Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks. This 9‑month or less position pays $19.00 per hour.   • Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspector (ANS)

    Employment:
    April – 31 October 2025 (optional part‑time up to 40 hrs/week). Inspects boats and personal watercraft for invasive species, educates the public, and records inspections.

    Responsibilities
    • Staff the ANS inspection station.
    • Conduct physical boat inspections and interview boaters.
    • Distribute brochures and promote ANS education.
    • Maintain inspection areas and record inspection data.
    • Document and report visitor complaints.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Must be 16 years or older.
    • Willing to work outside, including in inclement weather.
    • Must be able to climb in and out of vessels, under trailers.
    • Optional: 8‑hour shift with lunch at the station.
  • Interpreter

    Employment:
    May – 05 September 2025. Facilitates interpretive and environmental education programs for park visitors.

    Responsibilities
    • Schedule, plan, and present Junior Ranger, school, group, campfire, guided hike, and outreach programs.
    • Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day‑use areas.
    • Work with volunteers and other state, federal, and local naturalists.
    • Assist with special events and develop brochures or other written materials.
    • Catalog and protect park collections of slides, photographs, and specimens.
    • Complete training sessions and other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Own reliable transportation.
    • First Aid and CPR certificates may be required.
    • Strong interpersonal communication, public speaking, and writing skills.
    • Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
    • CIG (Certified Interpretive Guide) certification desirable.
    • Willing to work outdoors, including in inclement weather.
    • Optional: 8‑hour shift with lunch at the station.
  • Park Maintenance Technician

    Employment:
    March/April/May – 05 September 2025. Oversees general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities.

    Responsibilities
    • Operate and perform routine maintenance on state vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensure quality customer service and facility maintenance.
    • Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transportation of supplies.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Will work outdoors, including in inclement weather.
    • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation; 2 years driving history required for state‑vehicle operation.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
    • Knowledge of power tools, hand tools, small‑engine and equipment maintenance preferred.
    • Optional: 8‑hour shift with lunch at the station.
  • Visitor Services Technician

    Employment: 19 April 2025 – 05 September 2025. Works in the visitor center providing information, product sales, and support to staff.

    Responsibilities
    • Staff the visitor center and assist visitors with maps, brochures, and park information.
    • Sell passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, and various merchandise.
    • Operate POS system and handle telephone calls.
    • Maintain cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the visitor center.
    • Collect revenue, complete shift reports, and balance shift box.
    • Assist with campground reservations and visitor complaints.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Must be able to work 40 hrs per week.
    • Willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and varied shifts.
    • Experienced with money handling and public interaction helpful.
    • Strong interpersonal communication (written and oral). Basic computer skills and typing ability.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
    • Might require 8‑hour shift with lunch at the station.
    • Work well with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
    • Uniform supplied; some items may require purchase at personal expense.
    • May need to pass background screening.
