Custodial Maintenance Specialist - Full Time, Non-Exempt
Application Closing Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on February 23rd, 2026.
Hiring Range: $42,065 to $47,708 annually.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, the Custodial Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing the various skills associated with the routine maintenance of the facility and equipment, including mechanical preventative maintenance and custodial care of the building.
- Coordinate with community service workers to ensure all paperwork is properly filled out and hours are completed.
- Maintain cleanliness and disinfect floors, walls, bathrooms, locker rooms, games, etc.
- Clean, sanitize and deodorize restrooms, showers, locker rooms and fixtures including sinks, urinals, and toilets.
- Perform general cleaning of all rooms/offices in the building; vacuum, mop, buff, clean counters, sinks, drinking fountains, benches, vending machines, fix minor plumbing issues, shampoo carpets, clean mirrors, windows, wash rubber mats, dust air vents, etc.
- Pull daily facility set‑up reports and coordinate staffing and execution of facility set‑ups.
- Perform custodial tasks as needed to ensure a clean facility for the public, including removing trash, general cleaning, refilling supplies and other maintenance functions.
- Maintain accurate records of custodial and maintenance supplies received and used; notify supervisor of deficiencies and reorder supplies when needed; research best options for quality products at competitive rates.
- Maintain a proper relationship with full‑time ice maintenance staff to ensure overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Submit work orders to appropriate departments and coordinate repairs needed based on facility availability.
- Maintain a proper relationship with contract clean crews to ensure overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Exercise proper safety and security precautions and practices at all times.
- Conform to building uniform and dress code policy.
- Maintain outside entrance ways into and around the building to ensure a safe and clean environment, including snow removal during winter months.
- Lifts and sets up tables, chairs, etc. for meetings.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings and orientations.
- Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of skilled labor experience in building maintenance preferred; technical experience or schooling related to facilities maintenance and equipment repairs preferred.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of custodial procedures, mechanical and building systems, carpentry work, and the ability to perform minor construction and make repairs.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, parents, and supervisors; read directions, chemical labels and work documents.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Works independently and with a team in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment emphasizing accuracy and timeliness.
Floor machines, buffers, vacuums, tools, pressure washer, brooms, mops, cleaning chemicals, general hand tools, telephone, computer and other common office equipment. May drive a personal vehicle to other locations for business purposes.
Working EnvironmentPrimarily indoor; may work in cool environments (40‑55°F). Works with cleaning chemicals and other cleaning materials.
Physical RequirementsDaily routine requires standing, walking, sitting, manual manipulation, reaching outward, above shoulder, bending, lifting, kneeling. Must lift up to 100 pounds; vision acuity and ability to adjust focus for close and distant sight; clear communication and understanding.
