The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an Automation Technician position within our Champaign facility. Depending on business requirements, normal working hours will be 40 hours per week with overtime as required.

This role is essential in supporting production operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing advanced automated systems and robotics equipment throughout the warehouse, ensuring minimal downtime and safe efficient operation of automation systems.

Overview Of Role

The Logistics Facilities Automation Technician is responsible for the advanced maintenance, repair, and operation of all facility systems and equipment in a logistics warehouse environment. This position involves performing routine preventative & corrective maintenance troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls automation, and general facilities tasks. The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize systems to ensure the facility operates efficiently and safely. Additionally, Logistics Facilities Automation Technician will mentor Maintenance Team Members, assist in driving maintenance projects, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Deliverables
  • Perform advanced maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on robotic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
  • Install, calibrate, and repair complex equipment, such as conveyor systems, automated machinery, and control systems.
  • Lead and coordinate preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and systems operate optimally and reduce unexpected downtime.
  • Conduct systems inspections, identifying problems before they affect operations and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests, resolving issues with minimal disruption to the facility’s operations.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Maintenance Team, helping develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining inventory levels of maintenance supplies and parts, ensuring timely procurement and availability.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities in a maintenance management system (E-Maintenance), ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of completed tasks, parts used, and time spent.
  • Assist in implementing facility improvement projects, providing technical input, and supporting the execution of upgrades or modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including handling hazardous material and waste disposal.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and recommend system improvements to reduce reoccurring issues and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in managing external contractors or service providers for specialized maintenance tasks.
