Job Summary

Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and performs custodial services to maintain campus facilities in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Oversees daily cleaning operations, assigns and inspects work, and provides guidance and training to custodial staff to ensure quality standards and safety requirements are met. Performs and coordinates routine and specialized cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other campus facilities. Conducts facility inspections, responds to service requests, and addresses cleaning and sanitation needs in a timely manner.

Maintains custodial equipment and supplies, monitors inventory levels, and ensures proper use and storage of cleaning products. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus departments to support daily operations and special events. Directly reports to the Maintenance Operations Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises and directs custodial activities; performs custodial work as needed (20%).
  • Ensures quality of custodial services by inspecting work and instituting corrective measures when necessary (20%).
  • Ensures custodial technicians understand College policies and procedures regarding expected employee conduct and performance; reviews policies and implements corrective actions (20%).
  • Coordinates schedules to meet college needs, including special projects, events, and technician absences (10%).
  • Instructs custodial technicians in proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance (10%).
  • May be required to work multiple sites.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and four (4) full‑time equivalent years of custodial experience, or relevant work experience, including two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • OR Associate's degree in any discipline and two (2) full‑time equivalent years of custodial experience, or relevant work experience, including two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Desired Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in a commercial, industrial, educational, or institutional custodial/maintenance setting.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships in the work environment.
  • Experience with industrial safety practices, standards, and use of PPE.
  • 3 years of custodial supervisory experience in a school or higher education setting.
  • Experience with modern custodial cleaning procedures, products, and equipment.
  • 2 years of experience with time management of custodial staff using computerized software.
  • One year of relevant full‑time MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
  • Experience with in other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered.
