Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Amentum is seeking a Life Safety Systems Specialist to join our Operations & Maintenance team. The role requires advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on facility systems within a large industrial environment, including clean rooms.
Responsibilities- Respond to work orders and perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Conduct building testing and inspections; assess fire suppression systems; provide fire extinguisher training.
- Perform NFPA 10, 17A, 96, and 25 requirements; maintain regulator records.
- Inspect and maintain fire protecting systems, equipment, grounds, and stations.
- Safely perform job functions following safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE.
- Conduct preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and alignments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the CMMS.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Operate forklift, hoist, and crane; utilize safe rigging and lifting techniques.
- Respond to customer service on all work orders ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving work problems.
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments for energy efficiency solutions.
- Use hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for the benefit of the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- Typically 3–5 years of job‑related experience or equivalent.
- Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Ability to obtain any additional licensing required by state regulation.
- Read and understand documents displayed on a computer screen.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; ability to operate computers and databases.
- Excellent communication skills for phone, meetings, and presentations.
- Some tasks require repetitive wrist movement.
- Walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.
- Climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as needed.
- Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and move in a 90‑degree fashion.
- Differentiates colors pertaining to wire color‑coding.
- Move light to medium weight materials.
- Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed.
- Cope with job stressors to maintain performance levels.
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Flexible work schedules may change based on critical business needs.
- Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance‑abuse test.
- This position may require a valid driver’s license.
- No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
- Requires obtaining a security access badge at the client’s location.
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour. The compensation range listed is a good‑faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.
