Job Title: Custodian
Classification: Support Staff
Job Details- Employment Type:
Full-time - Minimum Entry Base Pay: $19.01
- Work Schedule:
M-F, 4:00 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m. - Calendar: 2385 (12 MONTH) 248 work days, 7 paid holidays, 255 total paid days
- Benefits: PTO, holidays, wellness, professional growth credit
- Performance Pay:
Available annually - New Hire
Experience:
1% for two or more years of full‑time experience and an additional 1% per year, not to exceed 5% - New Hire
Education:
1% of hourly rate for a college degree in a similar field, combined with work experience credit not to exceed 5%
Maintain a safe, clean, and attractive physical plant.
Minimum Qualifications- Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
- Previous custodial experience desired
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Sweep, dust, vacuum, scrub, wax, and polish the floors and surfaces
- Wash windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment
- Clean assigned areas to prescribed standards and requirements
- Empty trash receptacles
- Perform minor repairs
- Move furniture and equipment based on the needs of the facility
- Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance
- Inspect all fire equipment on campus and maintain records of inspection
- Report safety/security hazards and needs for major repairs expeditiously
- Secure the facility, ensuring building is locked/unlocked as required
- Handle emergency custodial duties for principals, teachers, and staff
- Follow district policies as outlined
- Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors
- Respond to all internal and external customers promptly, efficiently, friendly, and patiently
- Function effectively as a team member
- Be responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Be flexible and adaptable to change
- Positively accept direction
- Maintain courteous, cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Direct constructive criticism toward improving the district

- Share sensitive student and staff information on a need-to-know basis
- Be a positive role model for students
- Work with a large cross-section of people in a professional and non‑judgmental manner
- Ability to work extended periods of time in extreme temperatures
- Typical duties include stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability
- Must stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing duties, including push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines
- Must lift items of various sizes up to 50 pounds; items over 50 pounds require a second staff member
- May be required to climb ladders and perform various stocking, inventory, cleaning or maintenance tasks
- May be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood‑borne pathogens, workplace restrictions, cold and/or hot temperatures, and loud noises
- Physical demands are representative of those necessary to perform essential functions; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities
