Maintenance Technician II
As a Maintenance Technician II, you will be assigned tasks to be completed daily by the Campus Facilities Manager and assist the Campus Facilities Manager and help the Maintenance Service Technician I. Tasks will be in the area of facilities maintenance, and you will be expected to have knowledge and experience in these areas. You will be working indoors and outdoors in this position.
You will have a very important role in keeping the school campuses safe and clean for staff, students, and visitors, in accordance with city, county, state, and federal regulations. Proper documentation with all work is vitally critical in this role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all school buildings and athletic fields to ensure they are safe for staff, student, and visitor use
- Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
- Follow all city, county, state, and federal safety guidelines in the repairs of the facilities
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school campuses and community
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
- Operate all equipment and machinery in a safe manner
- Act as a custodian when necessary
- Initiate work orders/requests
- Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, codes, and the Valley Way culture
- Performs other related assigned duties
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others

- Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
- Ability to read and understand safety data sheets, materials, and training
- Must take OSHA related training as assigned
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Class
2) - Has a good knowledge of chemicals, hazards, & applications for cleaning
- Ability to use a vacuum, broom, and mop
- Ability to work with hand and power tools
- Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task with organization
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Basic proficiency in English is required to effectively perform job duties, including communication with staff, students, and vendors
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
- HVAC & Electrician skills and experience strongly preferred
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in building and ground maintenance
Physical Requirements /
Environmental Conditions:
- Use a computer (visual and keyboarding)
- Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
- Requires stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
- Occasionally driving
- Continual walking throughout the campuses
- Visual acuity for diagnosing and repairing maintenance and mechanical problems
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 70-100 pounds using safety measures to do so
- Working safely outdoors in varying temperatures
- Occasionally work in and around dust, fumes, and odors
- Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
- Work in noisy and crowded school environment
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
- Tempe campus - work around small children including sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs
