Join our dynamic team as a Data Center Engineering Technician. You will be a critical guardian of our technology infrastructure, maintaining mission‑critical systems to ensure a 99.999% uptime for global digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
- Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Write technical documentation to support the change management program.
- Manage daily work requests, drive to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
- Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures and local legislation.
- Adapt to shift schedules that may run up to 12 hours, including rotations and on‑call responsibilities; support more than one location if required.
- Lift and/or move up to 39 lbs independently, and participate in group lifts for 40+ lbs.
- Assume positions on ladders and perform construction tasks while maintaining balance.
- Walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects.
- Work in environments requiring ear protection.
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed between data‑center locations (over and under 50 miles). Travel frequency varies with business needs.
- Availability to work temporarily at alternative sites during training or until the assigned facility is operational.
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
- Technical training from a military or trade school.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
The starting pay for this position is USD 32.00–57.00 per hour (USA, VA, Chantilly). Final starting pay will be based on experience, qualifications, and location. The role includes Amazon benefits such as EAP, mental health support, medical advice line, and 401(k) matching.
