purpose of organizational unit
the primary purpose of chilled water systems is to produce and distribute chilled water to the various buildings on the university campus, as it is critical to the operations of the university for comfort cooling, process cooling, and dehumidification. Chilled water systems (cws) is a department within energy services which is a part of the facilities services division.
position summarya sign-on bonus of $7,500 is available for the successful applicant of this position paid in 2 installments within twelve (12) months of hire: $3,750 within 30 days of hire date & $3,750 12-months after hire date.
the production superintendent serves as a member of the chilled water systems management team and is the subject matter expert for chilled water production equipment and plant operations across central campus plants and standalone locations. This leadership role is responsible for the supervision of all production personnel within the chilled water systems organization. Scope includes chillers, cooling towers, condenser and chilled water pumps, air compressors, air handlers, heat exchangers, water treatment systems, and ancillary equipment required to reliably produce chilled water.
key responsibilities include supervision, performance management, maintenance planning and execution, plant operations, budget planning, regulatory compliance, and contractor oversight. The production superintendent ensures safe, reliable, and efficient chilled water production to support campus comfort cooling, process cooling, and dehumidification needs.
this position supervises 6 fte.
minimum education and experience requirementsgraduation from high school or equivalency and four (4) years’ experience in applicable utility operations/maintenance, including three (3) years of supervisory experience to include formal performance management experience; or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education.
