Primary Purpose of Position
Provide housekeeping and building services for our residential students, visiting faculty, guests, and conference participants with the safest and cleanest environment possible. Utilize and properly maintain cleaning equipment, based on standard operating procedures, to departmental specifications. The housekeeping position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and assisting in the maintenance of buildings which complements the impact of student development goals of the department.

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties Hiring for multiple positions: 010604, 011030, 010618, 011021. Provide housekeeping and building services for our residential students, visiting faculty, guests, and conference participants with the safest and cleanest environment possible. Utilize and properly maintain cleaning equipment, based on standard operating procedures, to departmental specifications. The housekeeping position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and assisting in the maintenance of buildings which complements the impact of student development goals of the department.Performs basic cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dusting, waste removal, restocking restrooms, disinfecting/sanitizing, etc., to keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Operates and maintains basic equipment to perform housekeeping duties (e.g., motor scrubber, vacuum cleaner, carpet extractor, industrial vacuums, floor buffers, etc.). Cleans and sanitizes on a daily basis to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.Cleans spaces of currently ill and recently ill students; maintains cleanliness of fixtures, showers, floors, restroom areas, and common spaces. Monitors stairwells and entrance areas for cleanliness. Dust mops and damp mops as needed. Vacuum carpets in common areas. Maintains inventory of cleaning materials, supplies and equipment. Responds on an as-needed basis on weekends and nights to emergency situations. Follows University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements including those related to blood borne pathogens.
Uses proper safety gear and equipment and follows hazard protocols when handling bodily fluids. Fits N95 masks as needed. Promotes health and safety practices.Reads safety manuals and ensures equipment is properly maintained. Attends training on equipment, safety, emergency procedures, and accident reporting. Reports hazards and accidents in a timely manner. Maintains awareness of potentially dangerous situations and notifies supervisors. Ensures proper labeling and storage of chemicals and safe disposal of outdated materials.Respectfully identifies, listens to, and responds to customer needs in assigned work areas. Maintains residents privacy and belongings. Builds positive relationships with residents and staff and adapts schedules to customers needs.Other Work Responsibilities
Enters occupied spaces to clean while maintaining privacy and security; reports lost property and supports resident relations and recruitment activities.Works with team members to clean residence halls, coordinates with management to align with organizational objectives, and assists during large events.Represents the department positively when interacting with students and demonstrates appropriate interpersonal behavior.Collaborates with hall staff and maintenance to address maintenance issues in a timely fashion.Departmental
