Job Description:

The Maintenance Assistant supports the hotel's engineering team by helping maintain a clean, safe, and fully operational environment for guests and staff. This hands-on role includes routine maintenance, responding to service requests, and assisting with the upkeep of the hotel's mechanical systems, guest rooms, and public areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Operations & Preventative Maintenance
  • Assist with routine inspections of guest rooms, hallways, public spaces, and mechanical equipment.
  • Complete daily work orders and minor repairs including painting, plumbing, HVAC filter changes, light fixture replacements, and general carpentry.
  • Support the engineering team in performing preventative maintenance tasks according to the established schedule.
  • Help maintain equipment logs, tools inventory, and proper storage of supplies.
Guest Support & Room Care
  • Respond quickly and professionally to guest service requests related to room maintenance issues.
  • Help ensure all rooms meet brand standards for functionality, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Provide courteous and efficient service, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, fire safety, and chemical handling.
  • Report hazards, maintenance needs, or unsafe practices to the Chief Engineer or General Manager.
  • Help maintain the hotel grounds and outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lot, and landscaping upkeep as assigned.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures, including fire alarms, floods, and weather events.
Teamwork & Professionalism
  • Work collaboratively with housekeeping and front desk staff to resolve guest issues.
  • Maintain clean and organized maintenance shop and storage areas.
  • Wear the proper uniform and protective equipment; follow grooming and appearance standards according to Maya Hotels and Hilton brand policy.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and deliveries when needed.
Education,

Skills and Abilities

:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred, technical training a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in maintenance, custodial work, or a trade (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of tools, building systems, and repair techniques.
  • Financial Knowledge:
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to coordinate across departments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders.
  • Comfortable working in any weather condition, indoors or outdoors.
