Position: Environmental Services Technician - University City (Full Time) 2nd Shift

Position Overview

Department:
Atrium Health University City – Environmental Services. Status:
Full time.

Hours:

40 per week, second shift. Pay: $18.85 - $28.30 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures; sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet; restocking restrooms; replacing light bulbs; reporting repairs.
  • Assist with outdoor cleaning such as parking lot, windows, and roof, including the use of ladders.
  • Handle heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Remove waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen; emptying trash containers; changing sharps containers; transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors; recycling material; emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Maintain clean and orderly equipment and report equipment failures or mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with procedures, rules, regulations, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards.
  • Attend required in‑service education and training classes, including safety updates, to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co‑workers.
  • Physical ability to perform repetitive work, work in contaminated, isolation, construction, and renovation areas; occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and unpleasant smells.
