Day Porter / Grounds Maintenance Associate Position Summary
The Day Porter / Grounds Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of commercial property grounds, common areas, public restrooms, stairwells, and exterior spaces. This position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment for tenants, visitors, and customers.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMinimum Qualifications
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Possess a mobile device capable of communicating with supervisors and management.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Pick up trash and debris throughout the property, including:
- Around building exteriors
- Parking lots
- Landscaped grounds
- Dumpster corrals
- Report items of concern, hazards, or maintenance issues to management for direction.
- Blow off sidewalks surrounding buildings.
- Blow, sweep, and maintain exterior stairways.
- Blow, sweep, clean, and straighten exterior entry mats.
- Wipe down storefront windowsills.
- Wipe down benches and bike racks.
- Empty, clean, and maintain cigarette urns.
- Empty pet station waste receptacles and restock pet waste bags.
- Roll out trash dumpsters and carts as needed.
- Clean and maintain public restrooms and common areas.
- Vacuum carpeted common areas.
- Sweep and mop hard-surface floors.
- Clean and disinfect water fountains.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces.
- Sanitize sinks, toilets, and urinals.
- Clean mirrors and other restroom fixtures.
- Wipe down doors and sanitize door handles.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Stock restroom paper products and supplies.
- Clean elevators, including:
- Interior surfaces
- Exterior doors
- Call boxes
- Vacuum elevator tracks and mop elevator floors.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to send emails and attach photos using a smartphone.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to identify and report property concerns promptly.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and customer-service oriented.
- Shift start times may begin as early as 6:00 AM.
- Typical schedule consists of 8-hour shifts.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and indoors in common areas, stairwells, and restrooms.
