Description of Work Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities. To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Personnel Health Care Registry. The primary purpose of the Plant Maintenance Section is to ensure the successful operation of the physical plant and facility infrastructure.

This position supplements the departmental trades in their efforts to maintain the above facilities. This position occasionally assists in maintaining coverage for 2nd and 3rd shift operations. Also, this position sometimes independently supports shop procurement needs. On occasion, this position will assist with maintenance repairs and other types of work for other State agencies.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Successful candidate must have experience in some areas of any of the following: electrical, plumbing, and HVAC operations.

This position to have some working knowledge of a wide range of tools and some types of electrical instruments.

Valid driver’s license.

Two years of experience in a large maintenance organization.
