Custodian, Evening Shift

Overview

The University of Virginia Facilities Management Department has an available Custodian opportunity. Custodians perform exceptional housekeeping services in assigned areas through safe work practices while using proper housekeeping techniques. The position maintains good working relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors. The Custodian completes special project work as assigned. They gain increasing efficiency with cleaning techniques, supplies, and equipment.

Shift for this position is Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 12:00am (this shift qualifies for shift differential pay).

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc. Apply proper methods and materials.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed. May mix own cleaning solutions.
• Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks such as using auto scrubbers, battery powered, or electrical powered equipment.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

  Preferred custodial experience including operating floor scrubbers, low speed buffers, and stripping and refinishing floors.

Position Compensation:
Starting at $15.00 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. This position will also receive an additional $2/hour for shift differential pay.

This is a full-time non-exempt position with UVA benefits. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.

The use of both hands and repetitive motion is required while performing duties as a housekeeper, such as dusting and mopping. This job requires a range of continual movements, including walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting and lifting.
