The University of Virginia Facilities Management department offers a career with exciting growth opportunities. We are seeking Overnight Custodian candidates for the following shift.

• Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 pm – 7:30 am (starting Sunday 11 pm ending Friday 7:30 am)

Starting at $15.00 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. This position also receives an additional $2.50 per hour for evening shift differential.

Custodians perform exceptional housekeeping services in assigned areas through safe work practices while using proper techniques. The position maintains good working relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors. Custodians complete special project work as assigned and gain increasing efficiency with cleaning techniques, supplies, and equipment.

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc. Apply proper methods and materials.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed.
• Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping‑related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers.
• In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

• Some experience with basic housekeeping duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms and removal of trash in a workplace setting.

This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, and carrying, with the ability to safely handle material and equipment weighing 25 pounds, and occasionally as much as 40 pounds. The position also calls for repetitive motion for reoccurring duties such as dusting and mopping, and while working in various indoor and outdoor environments.

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
