The Thomas Jefferson Foundation has a twofold mission of preservation and education, and was incorporated in 1923 to preserve Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Today, the Foundation seeks to bring history forward into national and global dialogues by engaging audiences with Jefferson's world and ideas, and sharing the history of everyone, enslaved and free, who lived and labored ticello is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, a United Nations World Heritage Site, and a Site of Conscience.

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation is seeking qualified applicants who are passionate about providing our guests with a positive experience. Custodians will perform consistent cleaning and sanitizing services at an assigned location and will occasionally perform duties in other locations throughout the property to support special projects and events. Custodians must be prepared to spend a significant amount of time outdoors, in all weather conditions, and walk uphill and on uneven terrain as we are located on a mountain.

Custodians are considered frontline staff at Monticello and will interact with our guests throughout the day, so exemplary customer service skills are essential. This is an independent role, so successful applicants will be able to take initiative and have excellent time management skills. No experience required. Satisfactory work record and driver's license required.

We are looking to fill the following part‑time shift:

• Monday - Friday (5 days, 4:00pm to 9:00pm each day)

$1,000 sign‑onbonus! $16.50 per hour.

• Possess a courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Follow instruction and work independently.
• Ability to operate vacuum cleaners and other standard cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to lift or maneuver up to 25 lbs.
