Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, General Labor
Cellar person reports into our Cellar Manager and is responsible for a number of varied and crucial cellar tasks to help carry out our mission to make the best beverages in the world. This is a repetitive job well suited for an individual who takes pride in minor details and understands their impact when considered as a collective whole in the brewery.
This opportunity promises an invigorating and exciting environment where good work is done so we always look for flexibility and a sense of humor in addition to other valuable traits like intent, hard work, and good communication skills.
Full-Time based in Charlton, MA.
Schedule:
Thursday through Sunday 6am‑4pm, with potential to work beyond normal hours as necessary, with as much notice as possible.
Initial schedule for training:
Sunday‑Wednesday to start, transitioning to Thursday‑Sunday once fully trained.
Responsibilities and
Qualifications:
- Daily fermentation vessel and brite tank CIP with both manual and automatic systems
- Bright tank purging and preparation
- Analytical sampling & record keeping
- Dissolved O₂ and dissolved CO₂ sampling
- Yeast handling / Hop & Trub dumps
- Brew day assistance including, but not limited to grist & ingredient preparation and equipment sterilization
- General brewhouse cleaning, including floors, piping, tank exteriors, etc.
- Packaging line assistance as needed
- Many other varied tasks as required throughout the brewery
- Relevant professional experience including knowledge of equipment and sanitation strongly preferred
- Experience in a field that requires hands‑on manual work regularly, such as construction, maintenance, landscaping, etc.
- Exceptional communication skills – including the ability to be both thoughtful and succinct in communicating and an active listener
- Ability to multitask and work lucidly in a time‑sensitive environment
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills and common sense
- Flexibility – Ability to work varied hours and shifts
- Refined and educated palate
- Passion and desire to continuously self‑assess and improve
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push 150 lbs and perform the physical requirements of the job
- Must be able to drive forklift, scissor lift, and other electric material handling equipment
- Must be able to follow PPE protocol and handle dangerous chemicals safely
- Must be able to bend, lift, reach, and stand on your feet for eight hours
