Records gas consumption data from residential, industrial, and commercial customers using an electronic remote reading device mounted in a company vehicle; reports data for marketers to use for customer billing.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities- Downloads meter reading route(s) daily, enters route information into ENSCAN electronic data collection units in vehicle, drives route and collects data from Electronic Reading Transmitters (ERTs) mounted on customers’ meters, uploads data at end of workday.
- Reviews Missed Meter Report daily to identify incomplete meter readings; performs special ENSCAN and manual readings to obtain meter data.
- Maintains electronic equipment to ensure accurate readings.
- Troubleshoots ERT problems: inspects, reprograms, repairs, removes, and reinstalls units.
- Interacts with customers via telephone and in person to obtain information and answer questions.
- Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route; updates systems and corrects problems.
- Maintains and repairs ENSCAN and ERT equipment to ensure accurate meter readings; removes lithium batteries and disposes as hazardous waste.
- Converts non-ERT meters to ERT system.
- Performs shut-offs, on occasion; paints meters; removes meters.
Required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1–2 years meter reading experience.
Preferred:
- ERT training.
- ENSCAN training.
Or equivalent academic education and experience.
SkillsRequired:

- Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and drive for an extended period, physically able to stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift weights at a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted. Must also have keen senses of smell, hearing, vision, and color identification. Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required.
