Job Description

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas in good repair. This role requires competence in various trades—including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering, and masonry—to ensure an attractive and well‑maintained hotel.

The position requires the ability to roll up sleeves and assist teams when needed, living the “ONE TEAM. ONE VISION.” philosophy, and to offer innovative solutions aligned with our mission to be the best, most respected hotel company in America.

Responsibilities
  • Complete all required training.
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and property‑specific brand standards.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management to aid in better operation of the hotel and service to guests.
  • Have knowledge of fire alarm system and evacuation procedures.
  • Repair or replace items such as light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting, or other miscellaneous items.
  • Maintain a record of repairs performed, repairs scheduled and pending, and repairs needing evaluation.
  • Inspect guestrooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house to evaluate for areas to repair, touch up, or replace.
  • Assist other department team members in the systematic application of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of hotel facilities and equipment.
  • Show competency with basic hand and power tools.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, fellow associates, and hotel assets in conjunction with hotel management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the business functions of the company, including financial status, customer/guest information, and associate issues.
Necessary Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing, by telephone, and in person.
  • Able to report to scheduled shifts and work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and presentation.
  • Organized, honest, and works well with others.
  • Provide personalized, friendly service to every guest and associate.
  • Exhibit the highest degree of integrity and humility, living by the Golden Rule.
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Dedicated, innovative, respectful, excellence‑driven, community‑focused, and service‑oriented.
  • Capable of bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work eight hours in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Has eyesight suitable for near and far vision.
  • Comfortable using a step stool or ladder.
  • Can use/lift arms for up to eight hours.
  • Handles heat and stress.
  • Works in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Has finger dexterity for operating equipment.
  • Speaks in a clear, understandable voice, can hear at a basic level, and understands English.
  • Capable of writing.
