Job DutiesManages the institutional laundry operations. Documents work performed daily in the laundry. Supervises inmate workers. Researches and responds to inmate complaints regarding the laundry operation. Writes laundry operating instructions and revises procedures as needed. Performs or directs maintenance services by repairing and performing preventive maintenance on laundry equipment. Ensures tool and chemical control of items used in the laundry operation. Provides inventory management and budgetary input regarding current and projected expenditures for wages, supplies, equipment, and equipment repair/replacement associated with the laundry operation.
Minimum QualificationsWorking knowledge of laundering methods. Basic knowledge of repairs routine maintenance on equipment used in the laundry operation. Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, pull, lift, reach, turn, climb stairs and ladders; hear, see, write, count, read, speak, interpret policies.
Additional ConsiderationsValid Driver’s License. Knowledge of the methods of accountability. Problem solving ability. Ability to supervise other workers. Knowledge of building/equipment repairs. Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, pull, lift, reach, turn, climb stairs and ladders; hear, see, write, count, read, speak, interpret policies; operate a motor vehicle and moving/motorized equipment. Read and interpret schematics and blueprints. Ability to use computer and operate both hand and power tools.
Must have a good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Working knowledge of equipment repairs in order to be able to make minor repairs and perform routine maintenance on equipment used in the laundry operation. Demonstrated ability to plan work schedules and supervise the work others. Skill in Microsoft Office.
