Corrections Maintenance Foreman - SCI Chester

The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Maintenance Foreman who is eager to lead and inspire inmate work crews at the State Correctional Institution (SCI)  this role, you take charge of important maintenance projects that keep the facility efficient and ready for daily operations. This position plays a key role in directing inmate work crews and supporting maintenance and repair activities across the facility. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews as they complete maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks
• Work Planning: Plan daily inmate schedules, assign tasks, and review completed work
• Equipment Instruction: Provide instruction on operating machinery and vehicles and performing preventative maintenance
• Trade Assistance: Assist maintenance staff with semi-skilled and skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, steam-fitting, welding, and other skilled trades
• Tool Control: Issue, inventory, and track tools and materials and conduct searches to ensure accountability
• Task Direction: Exercise technical independence to identify required tools and materials, guide inmates in carrying out work routines, and establish plans and procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
