:
Daily inspection and frequent cleaning by vacuuming carpet, mopping tile, cleaning mats, cleaning glass, dusting, and wiping walls as necessary. - Lobby
:
General cleaning of walls and floors, light fixtures, emptying trash receptacles, dusting furniture, and vacuuming floors. - Hallways
:
Vacuum carpets, remove carpet stains as necessary, wipe/dust handrails, wipe walls and doors, dust picture frames, light fixtures, door frames, and clean glass. - Laundry Rooms
:
Clean lint screens in dryers daily, remove trash, clear sink drain, mop/wax floors, dust all areas and window sills. - Floor Maintenance
:
Strip and wax floors as needed under the direction of the Manager. - Public Restrooms
:
Inspect daily, empty trash, wipe fixtures, clean mirrors, replace supplies, clean floor, wipe ceramic tiles, remove foreign articles, and disinfect per schedule. - Social Rooms
:
Vacuum, dust shelves and books, wipe furniture and accessories, maintain general cleanliness, inspect glass and trash cans. - Community & Crafts Room (including Kitchen):
Maintain general cleanliness of floors, walls, fixtures, furniture, appliances and lighting. - Office and Reception Area
:
Daily cleaning to maintain professional appearance. - Gain manager approval before engaging in major cleaning that may disrupt daily activity (e.g., stripping and waxing floors).
- Uphold emergency maintenance procedures, immediately respond to major problems, coordinate with local authorities as necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
- Communication, Oral – Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word or other sign system.
- Detail Oriented – Ability to pay attention to minute details.
- Honesty / Integrity – Ability to be truthful and credible in the workplace.
- Reliability – Dependent and trustworthy.
- Time Management – Ability to organize and complete work within deadlines.
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
ExperienceNo prior experience necessary.
Other Requirements- Prior housekeeping experience helpful.
- Must have high attention to detail and ability to perceive cleaning/janitorial needs.
- Must be able to effectively use janitorial and cleaning supplies.
- Must communicate effectively in English.
- Must interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must adhere to all terms in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook.
