Hours: 8 Hours Day, Monday-Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Pay: $18.69/hour + Night Differential + benefits

SUMMARY: Performs and oversees custodial services at assigned elementary school site to ensure an attractive, sanitary, safe, and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Duties include cleaning, preparing, inspecting, and maintaining facilities and grounds; monitoring building systems; supervising, training, scheduling, planning, and evaluating personnel as assigned; responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns; ordering supplies; and maintaining equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and inspect assigned facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive educational environment. Uses proper PPE as deemed necessary. Replenishes daily use classroom and restroom supplies.
  • Supervise personnel to maximize workforce efficiency and evaluate performance. Responsibilities include training, planning, directing work, addressing complaints, resolving problems, assisting with hiring, appraising performance, disciplining, and terminating employees.
  • Consult with administrative personnel to plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial staff for daily activities and special events. Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor building systems and respond to immediate safety and operational concerns during and after standard hours. Includes checking boilers, identifying facility damage, monitoring alarms, etc.
  • Prepare the school and/or grounds for activities and special events, including setting up chairs, stages, backdrops, bleachers, etc.
  • Perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures. Transport required tools, equipment, supplies, and materials to required sites.
  • Prepare site for daily operations, including opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways, removing snow from entries.
  • Perform daily perimeter checks of facilities and grounds, securing doors, windows, gates; activate/deactivate alarm systems; adjust lights; etc.
  • Order custodial supplies, maintain equipment, deliver supplies, equipment, mail, packages, furniture to appropriate parties.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to gather and convey information required to perform job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 6 months of custodial experience.
  • Preferred experience in supervision and/or facilities maintenance.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • English language skills – oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, supervisory skills, basic math skills; bilingual preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and district procedures for absence reporting.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees and district policies, and building/department procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively with all people including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Recognition of safety importance; follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, use required safety equipment, report unsafe conditions.
  • Basic operating knowledge of custodial cleaning equipment at hire.
  • Operating knowledge of personal computers and peripherals, typical office equipment, and office productivity programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, E‑mail) required within 3 months after hire.
  • Operating knowledge of basic hand tools preferred.
