SUMMARY

This position ensures that facilities are in good operating condition by preparing and painting a variety of surfaces, determining whether repairs can be performed by building staff during operational hours or holidays/weekends, ensuring availability of supplies, and completing assignments safely, properly, and timely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate with administration and staff to complete projects/work orders efficiently, safely and timely.
  • Apply various paints, varnishes, coverings using sanding, spraying, rolling, troweling, mixing paints and stains to achieve correct color.
  • Transport tools and equipment to job sites ensuring material availability.
  • Design and install signs (painted signs, stencils) for directional and cautionary information.
  • Prepare surfaces (clean, sand, prime, fill holes/cracks, joint) to readiness for painting.
  • Perform drywall and plaster repairs, matching textures using hoppers and other texturing tools and techniques.
  • Maintain, repair and store painting equipment, sprayers, and stripers ensuring safe operating condition.
  • Procure equipment and supplies, maintain inventory, stock and organize paint and supplies.
  • Remove graffiti by cleaning or painting walls to minimize vandalism effects.
  • Assist other trades as required to support their work activities.
  • Use basic computer skills to create, fill out, close work orders, log paint colors and perform time clock operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in a painting trade preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid state‑issued Driver’s License required.
  • Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by district‑provided training completion.
  • Asbestos Supervisor certification required within 3 months of hire.

  • Knowledge of safety importance and ability to report unsafe conditions.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE
  • Operating knowledge of personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of typical office equipment (telephones, copier, fax) and office productivity programs (Microsoft Office Suite, e‑mail).
  • Operating knowledge of district IT systems and department‑specific software within 3 months of start.
  • Operational knowledge of all powered equipment used for job functions.

Job Requirements
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • High School or Trade School degree preferred.
