Position summary:

The Corrosion Technician supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of natural gas pipeline systems by performing corrosion control testing, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and installation of cathodic protection and related corrosion prevention equipment. This role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow established procedures, adapt to specialized tools, new software, and changing regulatory requirements, and perform field duties in all weather conditions.

Pay

Range:

This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

  • Level I: $32.36 - $48.41 per hour
  • Senior: $35.58 - $53.49 per hour

Essential Functions:
  • Perform corrosion control tests, inspections, surveys, and measurements on pipeline facilities to ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze corrosion and cathodic protection data, identify abnormalities, and recommend or implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate compliance records, technical reports, surveys, action plans, and related documentation to meet required timelines and compliance obligations.
  • Install, operate, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and evaluate cathodic protection systems and related corrosion control facilities, including rectifiers, test stations, anodes, ground beds, and monitoring equipment.
  • Identify, report, and help correct safety, environmental, operational, and corrosion related concerns while performing work in accordance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor pipeline condition through cathodic protection surveys, internal corrosion monitoring, atmospheric corrosion inspections, coating evaluations, exposed pipe inspections, and other approved assessment methods.
  • Assist with corrosion control projects, regulatory inspections, audits, compliance reviews, and status reviews, including cost estimates, drawings, specifications, material needs, contractor coordination, construction oversight, and closeout documentation.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and field training to employees and contractors, and perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Work autonomously under minimal supervision. Working and driving outside in extreme weather conditions is common along with providing emergency response after regular business hours, necessitating the carrying of a company cell phone.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of employees and company assets, contractors, and the general public.
  • Deal with and speak to, both in person and by telephone, with a wide variety of people using tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
