Salary range: $51,755.35 - $70,000.00. This position is bonus and/or commission eligible.
The RoleThe Staff Accountant is a key member of the corporate accounting team, supporting the monthly close, financial reporting, and compliance processes in a public company environment. This role partners cross‑functionally with Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounts Payable, and Collections, and provides exposure to internal controls over financial reporting (SOX) and external audit processes. Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries in Workday Financial as part of the monthly close process, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries.
- Support timely and accurate completion of the close cycle in accordance with established deadlines.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations with audit‑ready supporting documentation.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, including identification and escalation of issues.
- Perform cash reconciliations using bank and vendor data, and complete payroll‑related reconciliations.
- Prepare key accrual analyses and supporting schedules.
- Perform variance analysis and provide explanations to support management reporting and financial review processes.
- Assist with ad‑hoc reporting and analysis for management.
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing PBC schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Assist in the preparation, tie‑out, and validation of financial statements and supporting disclosures.
- Support compliance with internal controls over financial reporting (SOX), including execution, documentation, and audit support.
- Adhere to company accounting policies and contribute to maintaining a strong control environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or corporate accounting preferred).
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reconciliation skills.
- Experience with Workday Financial or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, audit‑ready work.
- Proven ability to manage tasks through completion in a deadline‑driven environment.
