Duties

Title

Math, Science, Spanish, and English/Writing Academic Tutors

DESCRIPTION

Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, is seeking part-time academic tutors to work in our tutoring center for the upcoming  school year, from late August through late May.

Hours Daily: 7:30-2:20 PM

Tutor responsibilities include:

* become familiar with Marian Catholic's curriculum and expectations

* explaining key concepts to students

* guiding students to help them complete their homework

* studying with students for assessments

* reviewing students' time management and executive functioning skills

* communicating with teachers and counselors regarding how to best serve students

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

* be joyful, flexible, communicative, collaborative, and tech savvy

* enjoy working with students to foster a healthy, supportive learning environment

* be well-versed in modern teaching methods, including the use of the iPad in the classroom and the use of Zoom

* Possess a Bachelor's degree in English or Writing, Biology or Chemistry, Math, or a Foreign Language (Spanish or Latin)

* have experience working with teens in an academic setting

* have extensive knowledge of relevant high school topics

Salary/Benefits

Salary: $130/day

Additional Notes

These positions are part-time and receive a stipend, with individuals receiving payment via invoicing through federal Title programs. Tutors would be needed for the entire school day (7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.); the number of days throughout the week is flexible.
