- Implement the instructional and behavioral components of the individualized education program for 2nd and 3rd grade students in a self‑contained classroom.
- Establish rapport with students, motivate them to develop skills and knowledge needed to achieve success at their individual ability level.
- Build positive relationships with parents, support staff and the district special education team (administrators, social workers, speech‑language pathologists and district psychologists).
- Collaborate with other special education teachers to plan and deliver effective learning experiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education.
- At least ten (10) years of experience teaching Special Education Instruction for K‑5, or relevant coursework/seminars/workshops within the past two (2) years.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS
1) endorsement. - Strong communication, organization and classroom management skills.
Certified staff salary schedule. *$7,000 annual stipend in addition to salary* Salary/Exempt. FLSA STATUS:
