St. Agnes School has a tradition of educating children in the south suburbs for 118 years. This position is for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
General Responsibilities- Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings.
- Serve as a role model for students’ religious formation and represent the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church.
- Align teaching practices with the school’s mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies.
- Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
- Lead and/or participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other religious activities directed by the principal.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and the principal.
- Participate in required professional development programs mandated by the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or the local school/parish.
- Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal.
- Attend faculty and staff meetings.
- Cooperate with the principal and staff in school meetings, activities, and projects.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
- Ensure a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment.
- Participate in the annual performance review.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Positively represent the school/per parish at all events, including extracurricular activities and in the general public.
- Carry out additional specific tasks assigned by the principal.
- Practicing Catholic (preferred; required for religion teachers).
- Compliance with safe environment requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required).
- Completion of Catholic identity formation training.
- Transcripts.
- Resume.
- Teaching Licensure (PEL), if applicable/obtained.
- Acceptance in an alternative licensure program, if applicable.
- Professional references.
The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive rewards package, including competitive compensation and benefits. For the Lay employee the salary range is $38,527–$68,776; for the Religious employee, $35,686–$62,316. Pay within the range depends on education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organization needs.
