Psychologist/Case Manager

Qualifications:
Current PEL (Public Educator License) with endorsement in School Psychology, Type 73. (M.A./M.S. with one-year school psychology internship.)
Job Summary:
Provide psychological evaluation and assistance to students who require such services in their educational or behavioral adjustment. Also, Case Manager for students referred for a case study and currently identified special education students.
Reports To:
Principal(s), Assistant Superintendent of Special Services, and other district administrators.
Terms of Employment:
Salary, benefits, and work year as established in the Teachers' Contract.
Salary Range: $49,144 - $60,348. Commensurate with experience.
Pension System: TRS
Responsibilities:
- Consultant Services:
Serve as a resource person to district and SPEED personnel (i.e., teachers, social workers, principals, counselors). Assist districts with identification of special education needs and in development and assessment of programs. Attend parent meetings as appropriate. Assist parents and districts in locating and coordinating school and community resources. Serve as a liaison person between the schools and other agencies as appropriate.
Assist in screening and selection of psychologist interns. Participate in activities of appropriate psychological and educational groups. - Field Services:
Observe individual students in educational situation as appropriate. Assess problems of referred students through use of appropriate screening, testing, and other diagnostic techniques. Determine eligibility of students for special education programs and services. Attend staffings for placement, continuation, change, or termination of special education services. Participate in parent conferences as needed. Consult with teachers and other school personnel in relation to behavior management and concerning problems. - Case Manager Services:
- Consult with staff members and principals on potential referrals through the Response to Intervention Process.
- Schedule, conduct and participate in the following:
- Collaboration consultation conferences
- Initial case studies
- Re-evaluation conferences
- Eligibility Conference
- IEP (Individualized Education Plan)
- Coordinate with staff the process of collecting data needed for case study staffings, screenings, and psychological consultations.
- Inform all staff members involved, including the principal and Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Special Services of all IEP conferences at least 10 days in advance.
- Complete all staffing papers and place appropriate copies in the District, Manager, and Teacher's Special Education files.
- Distribute a copy of the IEPs to all teachers who service students.
- Review incoming special education student folders and keep and up-to-date account of all special education folders.
- Be a district liaison to Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Special Services.
- Coordinate all out-of-district staffings as the LEA with non-public schools if assigned to case manage the non-public schools.
- Participate in out of district staffings as the LEA if assigned as case manager to an out of district program/programs.
- If assigned to the district preschool as the case manager, will participate in and assess problems with student's referral for preschool screenings through the use of testing and other diagnostic techniques.
- Re-evaluations - Establish a list of all special education students due for re-evaluation for the school year and distribute schedule to service providers for individual students being reevaluated.
- Forward all necessary information to parents, other outside agencies when necessary, who are unable to attend the case study and/or IEP meeting.
- Forward to the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education the district's copy of all case study staffing reports:
Staffing Notices, Eligibility, Psychological, Case Study Packets, etc. - Complete the Case Study Evaluation Checklist upon completion of an initial case study or reevaluations.
- Coordinate and schedule Annual Reviews for assigned schools.
- Provide input to the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Special Services that is beneficial for district programming.
- Provide other case manager responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Special Services.
