Position Summary
Prairie State College is seeking an energetic Music Theory instructor to expand our pool of face-to-face adjunct faculty at our Chicago Heights campus. The ideal candidate will be available to teach Fundamentals of Music Theory and the Musicianship aural skills sequence of classes for Music Education and Performance majors. Candidates should explore innovative approaches to enhance student learning and provide high quality instruction so that each student may meet course expectations.
Successful candidates will be responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning and collaborating with their coordinator, Dean, and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Candidates must also be able to utilize a variety of technology-based programs related to student instruction.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music AND Master’s Degree in Music or in a closely-related discipline with 18 graduate hours in Music
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Commitment to the mission of the community college
- Experience teaching Music Appreciation
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level
- Teaching experience at the community college level
- Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds
Salary: $972.38 per contact hour. Pay schedule for new adjunct faculty: $972.38 per contact hour.
