RoleWe are looking for a Senior Manager of the CCC data platform who will lead a team of database engineers who architect, build, and maintain various data technologies for the company. This position is based in Chicago on a hybrid model.
Key Responsibilities- Manage/lead a team of 3+ direct reports and additional offshore resources.
- Work closely with vendors to maintain and manage solid working relationships.
- Act as a senior technical resource, prioritise tasks, resolve complex problems, and participate in strategy discussions.
- Resource management and training of the team.
- Create and maintain appropriate documentation for data stores, production support, and end‑users.
- Collaborate with Operations and Product Development teams, as well as Data Architects, to assure adherence to operational objectives.
- Collaborate with the SRE and Dev Ops teams to automate deployment and monitoring of the CCC data ecosystem.
- Leverage AI to grow the data team’s usage of it to automate daily tasks.
- Make recommendations on how to reduce hosting complexity, improve operational agility and efficiency.
- Identify and implement incident management, change management, and efficient delivery of service.
Approximately 40% team leadership, 30% hands‑on work, and 30% operations support.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree or combination of work experience and technical certifications.
- 12+ years of information systems experience in a large enterprise systems environment supporting mission‑critical systems and applications.
- 5+ years in a technical team lead role of 5 resources or more – management skill set and long‑term operational experience.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
- Experience with complex system integration projects.
- Experience in managing database upgrades and patch management.
- Previous experience with managing SOC controls.
- Solid experience with system monitoring and management software.
- Previous experience with disaster recovery and recovering complex environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft SQL Server.
- 5+ years’ experience using cloud‑based database technologies such as AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, Azure PaaS and Hyperscale.
- 5+ years’ experience in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud.
- Experience managing large OLTP databases at scale.
- Has maintained and monitored hundreds of SQL Server installations.
