Quality Technician Needed - Chicago Heights, IL

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Lab Tech to join their team. As a Lab Technician, you will be part of the Quality Control department supporting the production teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs tests at various stages of production process to determine whether material meet prescribed formulas and standards in order to maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Draws sample to be tested at specified stages in production process.
  • Sets up and performs standardized tests to determine physical properties.
  • Determines conformity to prescribed formulas and standards, and documents deviations.
  • Makes routine adjustments or notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all quality tests and inspections.
  • Maintains test equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality issues and non-conformances; recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement quality control measures during manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in the development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Provide training and support to other laboratory personnel.
  • Records test data.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Key Result Areas:

  • Conduct chemical or physical laboratory tests to assist chemist in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials.
  • Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment.
  • Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, using techniques such as grinding, cleaning of glasswork, and sample preparation.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for products or processes, following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas.
  • Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards — using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Documenting/Recording Information
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree is desirable, but not required.
  • Three to five years related experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Testing experience, able to come to conclusions, refer complex problems to supervisor.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and ability to use various measuring devices are preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to do shift work.
  • Pass appropriate in-house task test(s).

Environmental Conditions:

  • General working environment for refractory operation (Heat and noise exposure). There is no climate control in most working areas.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight;
      Must be able to, bend, climb stairs, walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to wear a respirator
