Job SummaryCox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, engine, and transmission systems.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with customers to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welders, liftjacks, and other diesel tools.
- Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation timely.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule.
- Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase orders, and RO notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years experience in a related field (or equivalent experience or education).
- Possess necessary hand tools required for duties.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license with Class C license; maintain a Driver Qualification File.

- Understand implications of new information for problem‑solving and decision‑making.
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, standing, and walking for long periods and performing moderately heavy labor.
- Communicate information succinctly and engage in effective two‑way communication.
- Determine necessary tools and equipment.
- Accurately judge distances and make logical decisions.
