Principal Engineer AI

BMO Financial seeks a Principal Engineer AI to lead the design and delivery of enterprise AI solutions across our banking, wealth, and capital markets businesses. You will define AI architecture, build scalable ML platforms, and deploy secure, compliant models into production for use cases such as risk, fraud, and personalization. Partnering with data, product, and risk leaders, you'll set engineering standards, champion MLOps and Responsible AI practices, mentor teams, and evaluate emerging AI/LLM technologies to drive innovation in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Define and own AI architecture for enterprise-scale financial use cases (risk, fraud, personalization).
• Design, build, and deploy production-grade ML/AI services and platforms on cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with data, product, and risk teams to translate business problems into AI solutions.
• Establish best practices for MLOps, model monitoring, and Responsible AI/governance.
• Mentor and guide engineers and data scientists, setting technical standards and patterns.
• Ensure security, compliance, and performance for AI workloads in a regulated environment.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies, including LLMs and generative AI.
