TITLE:

Part-Time Library Clerk; $15 an hour.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in a library, clerical, or school setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn library software.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for books and literacy, especially for young learners.
  • Some lifting and movement of books/materials required.
  • Periods of standing, bending, and computer work.
JOB SUMMARY

The Part-Time Library Clerk supports the school library by assisting students and staff with locating materials, managing book check-in and check-out, and maintaining an organized, welcoming learning environment. This role involves clerical tasks, book processing, and helping students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PART-TIME LIBRARY CLERK
  • Assist students and staff in finding and checking out library materials.
  • Shelve books and maintain an organized library space.
  • Process new books and library materials (labeling, covering, cataloging).
  • Help students use the library catalog and other resources.
  • Support students in selecting age-appropriate reading materials
  • Monitor overdue books and send reminders.
  • Assist with library programs, book fairs, and special events.
  • Maintain an engaging and orderly library environment.
  • Perform basic technology troubleshooting for library computers and equipment.
  • Assist with inventory, book repairs, and weeding out old materials.
  • Supervise students and ensure proper library conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the librarian or school administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Required to work on all days when students are in attendance for 2 hours each day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
