Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in managing payment processes and ensuring accuracy in financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail to support the company's accounts payable functions.

Responsibilities:

- Process invoices, ensuring proper coding and timely payments.

- Handle automated clearing house (ACH) transactions and check runs.

- Perform three-way matching to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.

- Oversee credit card reconciliation and resolve discrepancies.

- Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.

- Collaborate with vendors to address and resolve payment issues.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in financial processes.

- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable.

- Monitor and manage outstanding balances to prevent overdue payments. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role.

- Proficiency in coding invoices and account coding processes.

- Familiarity with ACH transactions and check run procedures.

- Strong understanding of three-way matching and purchase order systems.

- Experience in credit card reconciliation and resolving discrepancies.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Knowledge of industry best practices in accounts payable operations.
